Sonning Common Primary School, South Oxfordshire
Sonning Common Primary School in South Oxfordshire will no longer feel the cold this winter thanks to Vulcana Gas who has replaced two old school heaters with a more cost-effective 16 kW powered flue fan-assisted heater from the company’s K series, complete with tamper-proof thermostat.
Ione Stacey, the school’s Finance Assistant contacted Vulcana when the second of two old school heaters packed up in January. The heaters were located in The Studio, a portable cabin, which is used daily as the school and village library, and also hired out to businesses in the local community.
With no insulation in The Studio, the school needed a quick solution, and when Vulcana’s quote came back considerably cheaper than a competitor’s, the contract was secured.
Having thoroughly assessed the existing heaters, Vulcana capped off the gas and electrical supplies and plated the existing flue holes to ensure the old heaters were safely decommissioned.
Vulcana then installed the new 16kW powered flue fan-assisted heater and fitted a tamper-proof thermostat to allow the teachers to easily and safely control the room’s temperature.
Ione said: “We’re so thankful to Vulcana for doing such a great job. They worked quickly to install the new heater and made sure it was working properly. In terms of heat output it’s extremely effective.
“The head teacher is particularly delighted with the tamper-proof thermostat; we’ve wanted to control the heating for years!”
Sonning Common Primary School in South Oxfordshire has approximately 400 pupils aged between 4 and 11 years. Situated in the heart of the village, the school plays a vital role in the wider community.
